Plum Foolery.

I believe this is a permanent Mac blush that does not get much love. Everyone raves about the limited edition blush which comes out with the trillionth Mac collection or a extremely rare blush that came out in last years collection etc that sometimes we tend to forget the products that are always there.

I pulled this out of my collection recently and fell back in love with it. Perfect for the winter months i feel as it has a deeper berry tone with some gold shimmer running through it.

Lip Creams....Yummy?

They smell like cupcake batter and they come in pretty colours. I was sucked in, it was a given.
I find these Nyx Soft Matte Lip Creams rather convenient for touch ups and on the go moments, no need for a mirror or fussing about with clean lines. I do have to mention though that you need extremely well exfoliated lips to pull them off. As the name suggest, anything matte will emphasis any flakiness or lines especially if your lips are cracked and dry, especially now thanks to the harsh winter weather.

Still, their affordable and when Cherry Culture has a sale, definitely snap them up. My favs of the bunch would have to be San Paulo and Antwerp. Gorgeous colours that are great for uni/work.

Product Rave: Mythic Oil

I hardly in fact i have never spoken about hair care, but i just had to talk about this product. This has been a hair product i have been thoroughly in love with unfortunately, it's gone now and it seems a little hard to come across. But more about that later.

Now i do not profess to be a hair connoisseur, in fact i hardly do anything with my hair in terms of styling but i have recently become rather obsessed with keeping my hair in a somewhat manageable  state.  A little background of my hair, I have very fine hair that tends to go frizzy at the hint of humidity. Yes i am not lying  0.1% of humidity in the air and the 'fro is out. I've tried everything, and it never seems to work, and i have to admit even this products doesn't quite cut it but despite that I absolutely love the way it makes my hair feel and smell.

The L'Oreal Mythic Oil is a leave in conditioning oil derived from avocado and grape seed oil.  As we all know oil is all the rage now in hair care *cough Argan Oil*  but in terms of consistency, i do find this a rather lightweight formula compared to the slightly greasy feel that Argan oil tends to have. I do use a generous amount massaged only to the tips of my hair. This leaves it super soft and much  less tangled. Basically my hair has never felt better since god knows!!! I used to think i had pretty unruly and unmanageable hair but this stuff seems to help. Absolutely love it.

Unfortunately i can't seem to find this product stocked in any pharmacies here in Australia. I have spotted them at a hair salon in Cronulla, so might just have to pick it up from there the next time I'm back in Sydney. If anyone knows of the whereabouts of Mythic oil, how ironic do let me know:)

Butter Me Up

I did go a teensy bit crazy, I'm pretty sure that's what your thinking, but wait hear me out. There was a good reason for this. Ozsale was having a sale on Butter London nail polishes for $14 AUD each, how could i say no!  don't answer that

Here's what i picked up

Macbeth, Trout Pout, Jaffa, Artful Dodger
Marrow, Toff, Queen Vic, Scoundrel
Scoundrel
My thoughts;
Where have you been all my life Butter London??? These are definitely luxe polishes in my book, maybe cause i did get them for much cheaper than what they normally are, around $22AUD i have a greater love for them but seriously in all honesty, they are amazeballs for lack of a better word *excuse the vocab*

Opaque, vibrant, long lasting i.e minimal tip wear and lasted 4 days no chipping. Gorgeous shades and just a joy to apply. One con i have to say is i wish the brush was slightly wider, it's a little narrow for my liking but hey everything else outweighs that.

Have you tired Butter London polishes?

Oil On My Face?!?!

I kid you not, that was my initial reaction when i started reading about using oil as a moisturizing agent. I wondered, who the hell would do that!!!
Now i do and i absolutely love the results.

So Rose Hip Oil has been getting the rounds in the beauty community as having various beneficial properties for the skin. I was always cautious about this  fad but also a small part of me was rather intrigued, So when i was given the opportunity to trial the Sukin Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil, i thought why not!

The Product
Now it is as what is says, an oil. I apply it every night , a few drops on the palm of my hands and spread gently onto my entire face including the neck. I find it does absorb pretty quick and there is no residual oilyness left on my sheets or pillow which i was a little vary about. In the mornings i cleanse my face as per normal and initially i have to be honest, i felt it did nothing. But i was persistent and after about a month only did i actually feel and see a difference to my skin.  Not only in texture but overall appearance was just to put it in simple words lovely ;) Smoother to the touch and an overall glowy look to the skin.

The Packaging
I do like how it comes with a dropper, could be the pharmacist in me but this just makes dispensing the amount of product easier. I generally use 2-4 drops for my entire face and whatever residue is left i just rub it into elbows, after all it is a moisturizer. Also i do find by having a dropper, i do not waste a lot of the product and trust me a little of this goes a long way.

I absolutely love it, all those images of clogged pores and greasy faces have been dispelled. I think i might just be addicted to putting oils on my face now, doesn't scare me anymore!!!

Have you tired any Rose Hip Oil products? Thoughts?

The Sukin skincare range can be found in most major pharmacies.

NOTD - Sinful Colors Cabana

Just a quick post today, I have several mid semester exams coming up and am extremely stressed! When will this end!!! I do find that when exams are around the corner, one way i tend to procrastinate besides watching a crap ton of beauty videos is to paint my nails every 2 days sometimes.

This was a shade i hadn't even used before, shame on me i know.

Pretty impressed with Sinful Colors, they are around $2.50 on Cherry Culture and i picked up a few shades when they had a 20% discount sometime ago. Gorgeous pinky berry shade, opaque in 2 coats and lasted the whole  2 days. I think for the price, they are  pretty amazing nail polishes.

Rekindling My Love for Moonbeam

I love highlighting. I'm pretty sure all you ladies out there do so to. It just brightens up not only my face but also my mood just by applying some highlighter to my cheekbones. During the day, i tend to not go the shimmery/glittery route but rather i prefer a more " I'm glowing and luminous" kinda look.

Now i know i have talked about my recent love Mac Cream Colorbase in Hush quite a bit on my blog but recently while shopping my stash, I rekindled my love with Benefits Moon Beam which believe it or not was the first highlight I ever purchased.

I remember the SA steering me to this as HighBeam was a teensy bit more pink for my liking and it was instant love.  It's definitely the most used highlight out of all the ones i own.
Now liquid highlighters can be a little funny sometimes, how you ask? Well, as i apply it post foundation and blush routine i find  it tends to remove or rather slide some of my base makeup away. So the trick i found has been to pat it onto the skin which will gradually blend it evenly leaving a gorgeous sheen to the skin.

Subtle yet gorgeous, what are your favourite highlighting products?

BareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow Duos 2.0

I did some hauling recently!! This time i managed to stay away from blushers and lipsticks, surprise surprise. Hopefully I'm not heading into an eyeshadow craze!!!

So BareMinerals have always been known as a lose mineral makeup company, basically everything they made, from eyeshadows, blush to face powders and foundations were all in loose form. That's great for those who enjoy them. Personally, i do like the occasional mineral powder and blush but when it comes to pigments, it's a hit or miss and most of the time a miss. Don't get me wrong, i have a couple of pigments from various brands but i generally tend to use them when i have a ton of time to play around with my makeup look, which recently hasn't been very often. So when BareMinerals launched their ready eyeshadow line, which is basically various palettes of pressed shadows, the beauty community was abuzz about it. It took me a while to check them out and I'm sure glad i did.

The Top Shelf and The Epiphany

First impressions, these shadows are super smooth and buttery to the touch. Pigmentation is fantastic and the shade selection is pretty awesome. I think they did a good job pairing a lot of the duos and quads. I purchased mine based on swatches i had seen on Temptalia and if your interested she has a very comprehensive review on all of the palettes they currently have out.

The Top Shelf: Mixologist and Cognac, The Epiphany: A-ha and Foreshadow

I'm guessing this is only the beginning for me, they also have blushers as well as their ever famous mineral veil in pressed form. I must resist!!!

Another One Bites the Dust

I'm beginning to find mascaras are the easiest of the bunch to finish or rather get rid off.  But i was really sad to see my Mac Haute and Naughty go, as this might just be my Holy Grail mascara. I've had this for quite some time and absolutely love it.
Now Mac has not been very well known for their mascaras, but they do have a large range i believe.  The reason i picked this gem of a mascara up was due to a review done on Temptalias website  that piked my interest. I have to admit the wand rather intrigued me as i had initially thought it to be rather gimmicky, boy was i proven wrong.

Essentially it's one mascara wand with two openings, the larger opening picks up more product while the smaller opening is perfect for giving more definition to lashes as well as coating the bottom lashes. I personally tend to use the smaller opening for daytime wear and go the thicker end for a more dramatic look particularly for nights out.  I do believe Bourjois has a dupable version similar to this mascara which i might try as it probably is a fraction of the price when Priceline has a sale on them.

So here are my thoughts;
This really defines my lashes and just makes my eyes pop.  As I occasionally skip the whole eye shadow routine, all i tend to do is line my eyes and put this mascara on and voila my eyes looked amazing! if i say so myself;)
It does not flake on me as some mascaras do leave residual bits under my eyes, not cute!
Overall, i can safely say this is one of the better if not the best mascara i have ever tried as it definitely ticks all the right boxes for me.

Have you tried Haute and Naughty?

NOTD - Illamasqua Nomad

I can safely say this is by far the most expensive nail polish i own in my entire crazy obnoxious nail polish collection. I just had to have it after seeing numerous blogpost pop up within the beauty blogging community. I felt instant love for this particular shade.

How do i feel about a bottle of $26 nail polish. Well, awesome opacity and extremely vibrant colour but the downside, it chipped within a day. Not worth the money i would say, even with the 20% discount Illamasqua were having, its so not worth $26. Nevertheless a gorgeous colour which could really be dupable in any other cheaper brand i feel.

What are your thoughts?

Nude Obsession?

It's safe to say that I  tend to gravitate to the nude lip look more often than ever. I love a good nude lip, its just simple and easy to whip out and goes with just about any look you have on. Sometimes i can just reapply my lipstick without even having to worry about looking into a mirror.

Now a few of these shades may seem a little on the darker nude side and some people may not even consider then nude. But with my NC40 skin tone these few shades are just complimenting of my warm undertones. Looking dead is not cute, so nude shades with more darker brown hues or even pink undertones suit me perfectly. Everyone is different and depending on  your skin colour  as well as personal preference your choice of nude lipstick shade will vary.

Anyways enough with the rambling, these are the *cough* few nude lipstick shades I carry around in my makeup bag. How did i accumulate all these lippies is beyond me, I guess you can never have one too many *spoken like a true beauty junkie*

NOTD - OPI I Have A Herring Problem

I previously mentioned how much i love the new OPI Holland collection. Ok maybe it's not so new anymore. But as i was saying, i picked up a couple and this is another one that i am absolutely in love with. Unfortunately, my camera just does not do it justice.

But it's a gorgeous blue grey with silver shimmer that looks stunning particularly in the sun. Best Collection Eva. Nuff' said;)

NOTD- SportsGirl Nail It Ginger

I have always loved Sportsgirl, not only for the fashion but lately i have been loving their nail polishes. They have been impressing me with some great color ranges and constantly switching up new shades to suit the season that i'm always purchasing something new when i pop into a store.

My most recent purchase was this gorgeous pumpkin orange jelly finish shade. Now i am more of a cream finish lover but this jelly based shade just called out to me. It  looks sophisticated and fun at the same time. Opaque in 3 coats with slight nail line visible ,it lasted a good 5 days with minimal tip wear. Looking forward to purchasing more of these nail polishes. Definitely do check out the SportGirl nail it polishes next time your in store!

Review: Mac Select Moisturecover

Concealer, a university students best friend!  Lately, due to the sudden onset of exams, my appearance seems to have taken a turn for the worse. Basically I look like death!  The one thing that i believe has been helping my poor little, tired eyes, is none other than my trusty old Mac Select Moisturecover concealer in the shade NC42. Now i have to state that i do not have terrible dark circles under my eyes, at least not yet. But with the amount of caffeine i consume, lack of sleep and staying up till the wee hours of the morning, this concealer goes a long way.

This was the first concealer i ever owned, yes i used to never use concealer  *shock horror*. Here are my thoughts

Now this has a very thin formula so if you have a lot to cover this may not work for you. But due to its consistency it does make it easy to blend as it just sinks into my skin. I do not set it with a powder and it last me a whole day at uni without any caking whatsoever. I use the applicator directly onto my face and either blend with my fingers or use my foundation brush and love the results. Overall, this is definitely a light to medium coverage concealer perfect for on the go and if your not looking for any  heavy duty concealing. This is definitely a repurchase in the concealer deparment for me, however I do have others im testing out so stay tuned for more reviews to come.

The First 3 To Go

I did it!  I  finished 3 beauty products and boy am i happy about it!!! As i mentioned in a post sometime ago HERE, i have been making a conscious effort to use up some unloved products, and voila i have!!
3 down a billion more to go;)

Here are my mini reviews of the items i'm done with;

Benefit BadGal Lash - I really like this mascara, granted this is a sample but i have previously owned the full size and enjoyed it. It mostly elongates the lashes, not much volume is added but it does a decent job. Now, i recently purchased the Benefit They're Real mascara, but i have yet to open it. You know the whole * I'm trying to use up what is opened and making my way through the ton of mascara I have somehow accumulated*  Is this a repurchase, yes but not at this very moment.

Smashbox PhotoFinish Light Primer and  Rimmel Fix and Perfect - I'm on the fence with primers. No i lie, actually I  don't see a difference with using them. It's just one additional step in my daily routine that i could actually do without. These 2 did not wow me. I didn't notice my makeup staying on any longer neither was there any oil control.  So not a repurchase for me. I do have others to try and i'm currently using Benefits Porefessional but i'm still very much on the fence.

Have you finished up any products lately?

Milk & Brulee

Recently, I've not had much time in the mornings to do the whole eye makeup routine, you know eye primer, lid colour, define the crease etc. Uni has become incredibly hectic and all i want to do is try to not look dead and scare my friends off. So i realized that by highlighting my inner corners and brow bone i kinda could fake the whole,* I haven't been up the whole night and am literally running on coffee look*

Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon Single in Brulee and Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk
This is the combo that helps me do just that. No miracles here, just good old makeup products:)
I use the Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk on the browbone and inner corners, then top it off with the Wet 'n' Wild Color Icon single in Brulee. The Nyx Jumbo Pencil has a slightly tacky feel to it, so when i apply my shadow on top, it stays put for slightly longer than usual. Brulee has been  my go-to shade the past month or so.  Pigmented, creamy and easily blended. It's completely matte and does a good job of highlighting, what more can i ask for!

NOTD - Opi Wooden Shoe Like To Know?

I think one of the best nail polish collections to come out from OPI after a long time has been the current Holland collection. They have totally outdone themselves. Gorgeous shades, great formulation and aptly named colours .What more could a nail polish junkie ask for!

The fist polish i grabbed to try on when my order arrived was this.  Yes, it looks like any other  chocolate brown colour, but there's a gorgeous goldie, purply shimmer running through it that makes this polish one of a kind. I tried to capture it in the picture, unfortunately it didn't pick up, but trust me, if you happened to see this in store do take a look, it's just gorgeous and unique! To good to pass up IMHO;)

Did you pick up anything from the OPI Holland collection?

Tendertone Hype?

Giving into the hype...does that happen to you sometimes. You find yourself so taken by all the blogpost or the YouTube videos where people are just raving about a specific product and you succumb to the hype. This, is a product like many others i succumbed to and the outcome you ask? .... Yes it is worth the hype!

I picked up 3 of the much talked about tendertones that recently came out with the Mac Shop, Mac Cook collection online. I was expecting them to be moisturizing but not necessarily pigmented and I was pleasantly surprised. Now they aren't any was pigmented like a lippy but they do give off a decent amount of colour that i could get away with only wearing this throughout the day.

Mac Hot N Spicy, Hush Hush and Purring
Moisturizing properties you ask? that's the million dollar question! It does as it says.  They feel luscious on the lips, glide on smoothly and don't feel sticky to me. The smell is a fruity citrus scent that makes the application all the more better. I just love slathering this on throughout the day and have the scent lingering around.

Did you give into the hype?

NOTD- Topshop Smashing Pumpkin

This is what i wanted Essie's Very Structured to be but that was an epic fail!  A burnt orange and like the name says, the perfect pumpkin colour. Gorgeous!
I am obsessed with Topshop nail polishes, I NEED MORE!!!! Can't wait till they make an appearance in Sydney. I'm so gonna raid that shop;)

On a side note, how amazing has the weather in Sydney been so far! Hope i didnt jinx it:)

Have an awesome long weekend everyone and Happy Easter!

Work Appropriate

As a pharmacy student, we have work placements to complete as part of the course and this time round i opted for placement in a  rural NSW hospital. Of course the first thing that crossed my mind beside what makeup would I wear included, what nail polishes would be considered work appropriate!

Now being a uni student, i tend to get away with the occasional bright and bolder colours and i'm rather carefree with my colour choices when it comes to polishes. So when i was packing, some tough choices had to be made! After all, i had to make a good impression;)

These were what i came up with. I narrowed it down to 3 shades of what i considered neutral and work appropriate. I did manage to inject some colour but in a more subdued manner with the pink and lilac. The grey, i thought was a great choice as it just looks classy on short nails and goes with most work attire.

Sleek Blush By 3

Blush...my current weakness. Yes i've moved on from lipsticks and back to blush!! And just in time actually. Sleek just launched they're new line of blush palettes. These blush by 3 palettes like the name suggest, come with 3 highly pigmented shades that are ideal for travel.

I only picked up one palette in Lace and am in love!!!! There's no doubt about it that we all have heard about how highly pigmented Sleek blushes can be and these are no exception. Three gorgeous variations of pinky corally shades that definitely will suit any skin tone. You really need a light hand with these blushers, a little goes a long way.
Too bad the Southern hemisphere is going into winter now, but hey looks like there will be a couple of sunshiny days ahead and i'm not putting these gorgeous babies away, just yet.

My Version of A Project Pan

Confession, a few days ago i looked at my makeup collection and was disgusted by it!

Yes i think i have reached a point where the amount i have bothers me. I love makeup but i think sometimes i go a little, if not extremely overboard with my purchases :)
So i thought to myself can i stop...no, can i cut down, yes! and how am i gonna do this.
Well first off, i did a clear up of all things i don't ever and will never use. Blog sale hopefully sometime in the future perhaps.
Then i thought, i would put everything I used to use all the time and products that i have left aside to make a point of using them up. And voila! this is a whole box of unloved or previously loved products
that i intend to see to its very end

.
So basically, the idea is to reach for these products first and every now and then mix it up with other products in my collection. I mean really does anyone need 10 different concealers   hides in shame.

This isn't in anyway a project pan, well i guess its my version of a project pan.

I know myself to well, the buying ain't gonna stop :)

Has your collection gotten out of hand? Are you on a project pan?

NOTD - Etude House WH703

You gotta love Asian makeup brands and the lengths they go to produce cute and girly packaging. It sucks you rite in!
I had heard a ton about Etude House, and when i saw a massive store in  my home town i literally screamed. I did pick up a couple of makeup products but of i never pass up on the nail polish!!. This shade is definitely something i don't have in my mahoosive nail polish collection believe it or not.

A gunmetal grey with purple iridescence that makes it unique IMO. The wear on the polish is its only downfall. Chipping was within 2 days, pretty bad considering i have nail polishes that last up to a week with only tip wear. Oh well you win some, you lose some rite;)

You High-Light Up My Life

Corny I know! but seriously i have been in love with two new highlighters recently, and just cant get enough of them. These in fact are new additions to my collection.

First up, my go-to day time highlighter, Hush Cream Colour Base from Mac.
This is a subtle highlight perfect for day wear. Its definitely is a pink tinged highlighter, something a little different and i think the reason its more daytime wearable. It just blends into my skin and gives a subtle yet colourful sheen without being Bam! in your face. It's waxy in consistency, so you have to warm up the product with your fingers and work with it a little.

Mac Hush Cream Color Base and TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer
Next up, my nights out option and my new current obsession, TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer. I did pick this up quite a while ago, but have only been recently using it as i have decided to make a conscious effort to shop my stash and found this gem sitting in my collection. If your looking for the JLo glow, this is it ladies! A yellowy gold shimmer that is definitely more obvious but gorgeous nevertheless, to die for!

Mac Kissable Lipcolours

In the recent Mac Shop, Mac Cook collection out in the States, they repromoted some shades of the Kissable Lip colour. Now i had picked up a couple of these liquid lipstick hybrid when they initally came out in the Peacocky collection sometime last year. Trust Mac to have a billion and one collections out at any given time! So as this collection has yet to hit Aussie shores, i thought i would do a mini swatcheroo and post my thoughts on them.

I find these Lipcolours,as they're called act like a lipstick/stain. After eating and drinking, i do find some colour still visible and i just need a little top up and i'm good to go. They're extremely creamy and apply smoothly. I do enjoy busting these babies out from time to time, hence why i chose a nude, a vibrant coral and a pinky colour.

One con i have with the product is the lenght of the wand. I am not a fan. I find it way too long,so its harder to manipulate in a way for me. If it was just a tad bit shorter, it would be perfect.

Msc Kissable LipColours in Super, Exxx-hibitionist and So Vain

Super, Exxx-hibitionist and So Vain

Only 1 of the shades, So Vain is being repromoted but they are some pretty colours coming out in the Mac Shop, Mac Cook collection. Definitely do check them out!

Have you tried the Kissable LipColours? Thoughts?

FOTN- Snob No More

I never considered myself a drugstore eyeshadow snob but i guess up until recently i have been.
Confession: I would never bother to swatch drugstore eyeshadows whenever i would go check out whats new in the drugstore *eekss* Don't get me wrong, I love a whole crapload of products from the drugstore i.e lipsticks, gloss, foundations but somehow the eyeshadows never seem to interest me.

But obviously this has now changed. They're stepping up their game !!!  From Loreal to Australis and of course Wet N Wild, who i know for us Aussie ladies cant be found in the drugstore but is very much a drugstore brand from America which i love and somehow find a way to purchase  thank you eBay.

I can rave the whole day about them but for now all i shall say is.... smooth like buttah ;)

Face - Laura Mercier Mineral Powder Classic Beige, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer Medium

Cheeks - Benefit Coralista, TheBalm Mary Lou-Manizer

Eyes - UDPP, Wet N Wild Comfor Zone Palette, Mac Haute and Naughty Mascara, Face of Australia LiquidLiner Brown

Have you been a drugstore eyeshadow snob too?

NOTD- American Apparel Port

I was in the mood for a vampy colour and pulled out a polish that i hadn't used since i purchased it. Yes i'm guilty about buying products and having them sit in my collection for some time before actually using them
 * hides head in shame*
I have previously raved about the American Apparel range of nail polishes and this one doesn't disappoint either.  I love the contrast with my skintone, sometimes really dark shades just pop. It's even boyfriend approved ;)

I have a feeling this is gonna be my go-to polish in the cooler months.
