Truth or Dare

Now I have previously mentioned my beauty purchases are heavily influenced by the online beauty community, so when these 'Benefit Box Blush' dupes came out it intrigued me, and I thought why not!

The packaging as mentioned is very reminiscent of the Benefit Box Blushers but definitely feel way cheaper and minus the lovely scent. They also come with a mini brush which, to be honest I would never use but it does make it look cute though!

I had been using this particular colour, Truth or Dare all of last week and I actually really like it. It is a little powdery when you swipe your brush in it, but once applied to the cheeks it does give a pretty glow. As you can see there is a bronzy goldy side and a light baby pink side. Once swirled it gives a light baby pink mixed with a gold sheen finish that you might think is a bit much for winter but I still prefer to look a little glowy even in the winter months.

I guess on my skintone the pink is rather sheer so if your fairer, it may be slightly more pinkier/pigmented. It could also double as a highlight for me.

Sorry about the deer in the headlights look..have yet to get a hang of taking close-up shots ;)

In case your wondering I purchased the blushers on eBay as I don't think the  Hard Candy line is sold in Australia.

Have you tried any of the Fox in a Box blushers?

FOTN- First Impressions

So on Friday night I managed to catch up with some ex-workmates at The Darlo Bar. Had an awesome time reminiscing about work and life..miss them all so much.  I also managed to make use my brand new Inglot palette *yay*.  First impressions..
AH-MA-ZING!!!!!

These babies are an absolute dream to work with, so blendable, the colours are so vibrant and they apply like butter. I am truly impressed with Inglot and I can safely say I will be back for more. Here's the look I came up with.

Face - Mac Mineralize Satinfinish NC40, Mac Select Moisturecover NC42, Mac MSFN Medium Dark, Mac Plum Foolery Blush, Mac Rose Ole Special Reserve Highlight Powder

Eyes - UDPP, Shadows from Inglot Palette, FOA Liquid Eyeliner in Brown, Mac Haute & Naughty Mascara

Not a Virgin Anymore

I popped my Inglot cherry....as the title suggest. So I caved in and purchased my first 10 pan Inglot palette...and yes people it is so worth the hype!!!!! The lovely MUA was so excited to help me, ' the Inglot virgin', I guess she could sense my excitement:)

I haven't had a chance to actually use them yet, but just from swatching I can definitely tell you that these babies are extremely buttery and smooth.  I will be using them this weekend for a FOTN so watch out for that. Also love the packaging, it's perfect for travelling as it feels really secure and sturdy.

Unfortunately due to extreme excitement and stupidity I threw away the packaging of the individual colours which have the numbers of each colour...so i'm sorry:(

But if your looking to try out some of these, just go in and start swatching away. There's a ton of colours to choose from and it's totally up to you what type of palette you choose to make..which is definitely the fun part!!

Have you tried Inglot shadows? What are your thought on them?

Long Weekend Haulin'

I admit I am easily influenced by various bbloggers/youtubers when it comes to making beauty purchases. So when Lilit from Makeup and Macaroons mentioned that you could pick up China glaze nail polishes in Sydney for less than $10, my heart skipped a beat. I mentioned this to my lovely boyfriend and the minute I arrived at central from newy I dragged him to the city in search of  this wonderful place. Btw if your wondering this wonderful place im talkin about is SA Hair Supplies

Afterglow, Shocking Pink, Solar Power, Fifth Avenue, Your Touch, Avalanche

But wait, the hauling doesn't end there..nooo..I was reading Anita's blogpost about the new Cover Girl lippys that have just come to Australia.  It just so happens I passed by a Priceline on the way to SA beauty supply so obviously I had to go in, rite:)

Feline, Rapture, Darling
Priceline was having their Pink Dot sales and Bourjois was 50 % off everything. This was my chance to try out a few products as their usually really expensive for drugstore makeup.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation 55, Beige Elegant, Rose Corset

So that's my mini little haul...maybe I should stop watching/reading beauty blogs for a little while...what do you think?

Nyx Round Lipstick Swatches Part 2

This is a continuation of my Nyx round lippy collection. Have a look at the first part here if you haven't checked it out yet.

L to R: Tea Rose, Fig, Louisiana, Doll, Femme

Tea Rose -  Another famous Nyx colour within the beauty community. One of my favourites, definitely use this the most out of the bunch. Its a great everyday lip colour, highly recommend it.

Fig - this looks pretty similar to Tea Rose, just a touch brighter. Another extremely wearable daily colour. Definitely a must have if your into pinks.

Louisiana -  this is a much bolder colour for me personally. I bought this with the aim to ease myself into some bolder pink colours.

Doll - a dusky rose colour which is very neutral and easy to wear. Note to self..must wear this more.

Finally Femme - a darker pinky/reddy coral colour which is quite bright in person. Once again a bolder colour for someone like myself, but I can see myself wearing this more in the summer.

So there you go, these are basically all the Nyx round lippys that I own. Hope it helps you to kinda figure out how some colours look like. If you have any suggestions on other colours that I should try out or even some of your favs, let me know:)

FOTN- A Cold Winters Night

Its been getting pretty cold and wet here in Sydney/Newcastle. I feel the need to go into hibernation, it's way too cold and glum to be dressing up and going out, especially if you live in the 'burbs !!!!!!But over the weekend I braved the cold  barely to attend a friends farewell. It was an awesome night and so I thought I would put up another FOTN. I really liked how it turned out so here goes....

Face- Mac Face & Body C5, Mac Select Moisturecover NC42, MSF Natural Medium Dark, Nyx Cream Blush Hot Pink, Benefit Bella Bamba, MSF Petticoat

Eyes- UDPP, Nars cream shadow Corfu, Nars Ashes to Ashes on the lid , Nars Lola Lola in the crease, Nyx Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk as highlight, Mac Superslick Liquid Eyeliner in Defiantly Feline, Mac Pearlglide Liner in Undercurrent on lower lashline, Mac Haute and Naughty mascara.

Lips- Mac Mehr with Mac En Pointe Lipglass

I think now I shall go into hibernation:)

Winter Nail Polish Picks

I love nail polishes, actually i'm a little bit obsessed. So i thought I would share my love/obsession of these gorgeous nail polishes with you and up a post on my top winter picks.

Now there is no rule when it comes to what colour nails you have on at different seasons. If you feel like rocking a bright yellow polish in winter, you should! However these are a few colours that I personally think would look gorgeous in the winter, not saying I wont use them anytime else.

China Glaze-Below Deck, Zoya-Caitlin, Milani-Teddy Bare, Barry M-Bright Purple, Sally Hansen- Mocha Mix

CG Below Deck- love in a bottle..a gorgeous taupe brown that can pull purple in some lights...simply gorgeous.

Zoya Caitlin -  a periwinkle blue with grey undertones, I love these sort of colours anytime of the year actually.

Milani Teddy Bare - this is apparently a dupe to Chanel Particuliere.  A browny grey polish, makes me feel very mature when i have this on.

Barry M Bright Purple- these babies are so inexpensive and extremely pigmented, all you need is 1 coat and your done..highly recommend Barry M nail paints. This gives a nice pop of color and looks gorgeous on short nails.

Sally Hansen Mocha Mix - this color reminds me of a cup of hot cocoa and some marshmallows..*i'm nuts* ..i guess it screams winter to me.

What are your winter nail picks?

Nyx Round Lipstick Swatches Part 1

I thought I would do some swatches of all my Nyx round lippys. I have a few that I have accumulated over time especially after hearing youtubers/bloggers rave about these babies.

Now in my personal opinion, these lippys are creamy but not moisturizing. I find after about 4 hours of wear and re-applying, my lips tend to feel dry. So I always apply a lip balm before applying any of these lippys.

Apart from that these are great. They come in a variety of colours, extremely pigmented and affordable. Even if you'r a neutral gal like myself or love a bold lip there's a whole range of colours to experiment with.

L to R- Snow White, Thalia, Ceto, Indian Pink and Frapuccino

First up is Frapuccino - this is a new one to my collection and looking at the swatches I thinks it's gonna be my go-to lippy of the coming week.

Indian Pink - a gorgeous pink with a goldy sheen. Worn this several times now and always get compliments when I have it on.

Ceto - If your medium to medium dark skin-toned and looking for a good nude colour I suggest getting your hands on this. It's a perfect nude colour with gold undertones, just gorgeous.

Thalia - This is a well known colour in the beauty community, and I totally understand why. A gorgeous cool toned pink, a nice pop of colour to a neutral eye.

Snow White - A dark blood red colour that adds a little drama to the face.

NOTD-Sally Hansen Bamboo Shoot

I was looking for an off white colour, something with pink undertones and I came across this nail polish in Priceline which I seem to have an obsession with. It only cost $9.95 which is pretty affordable for 'drugstore' nail polish in Australia so I picked it up.

Now this nail polish is definitely not opaque, you need about 3 coats or more to get it to be really opaque. It also applies streaky so be wary of this. That being said, I have a heap of other Sally Hansen nail polishes from this line, the Hard as Nails Extreme Wear range and I love them. The darker colours apply much better and only need max 2 coats.
Sally Hansen Bamboo Shoot

My nails with 4 coats of the nail polish
Despite it all I still like the colour, it makes my hands look clean and fresh.
Have you tried the nail polishes from this line? How did you find them?

Sweet & Mighty

For the past week I have been loving the combo of using the Mac blush in Mighty Aphrodite from the Wonder Woman Collection layered over the Mac cremeblend blush in So Sweet So Easy. This makes a really pretty soft pink cheek with a slight goldy sheen that really brightens up my face.

Mac Mighty Aphrodite and Mac Cremeblend Blush So Sweet So Easy

I've been really getting into cream blushers recently. They give a really pretty glow to the face, a great perk me up in this cold miserable weather. However, there is one con that I find with this particular cream blush. It's not as creamy as the NYX cream blushers, so I find the best way to apply this is with my fingers. Apart from that, I love the colour and it does blend easily into my skin to give a soft natural pink flush to the cheek.

So Sweet So Easy and Mighty Aphrodite
So what has been your go-to blusher in the past week/month?

Yum Cha and Zara

Over the past weekend I caught up with some friends over yum cha in the city and of course I had to pop into Zara excuses. So here's a quick FOTD, very simple look. I basically used one eyeshadow all over the lid, some liner, tiny bit of blush and lippy. Hope you like it:)
Face-Laura Mercier Mineral Powder in Classic Biege,Mac Select Moisturecover in NC42, Hard Candy Blush in Living Doll

Lips- SportsGirl Pout About It l/s in Beauty Queen

Eyes- Light browny/taupe colour from NYX Versus palette, Face of Australia Liquid Eyeliner in Brown, Benefit BadGal Lash in Black

PS I didn't get anything from Zara but I did pick up some MAC...lol

May Most Used

May was a month spent studying/stressing and sitting for exams for a good part of it. I dont have a large variety of products however these were my staples that helped me look half decent i hope. As winter was fast approaching in May, the main idea was to keep myself moisturized with minimal amount of makeup.

Mac Msf Natural in Medium Dark-I just need a light dusting of this with a kabuki and I'm good to go
Benefit BadGal Lash in Black-Perfect everyday mascara,it doesn't give much volume but more of a lengthening mascara.
Milani Liquifeye in Brown-I feel a brown liner gives a softer natural look as compared to black liner which can be a little harsh sometimes.
Stila Long Wear Lip Color in Flushed- Light pinky colour, very natural for everyday wear

Nak Ends Therapy with Argan Oil-I use this everytime after I wash my hair, it just makes my hair less frizzy and softer.I have gone thru 2 tubes of this...love it:)
Body Shop Nutriganics Smoothing Night Cream-this has a spicy scent to it, but love how my skin feels in the morning, smooth and supple

Aveeno Intense Relief Hand Cream-I had never used a hand cream before, but as my hands were feeling really dry  I thought I would give this a try, it has a thick consistency but does moisturize quite well.

So ladies what have been your staples in the past month?
